What I have learned in the course of EDU 520- Digitally Mediated Teaching and learning is to use digital tools to create a website.  I also learned how to be creative, especially when I create a website or a portfolio.  Reading about online identities  got me thinking that it seems that we can’t put too much online because people can get your information.  While I was doing some research on online personalities, I came across this article called ’10 Types of Social Media Users.  The article was very interesting.  It talks about 10 types of social media.  While I was reading it, I found a type that I believe I am.  The Black Booker.  The black booker is “ a true relationships builder, this person looks at social media in the most practical way possible: a means to communicate with other people.”(https://topdogsocialmedia.com/10-types-of-social-media-users/).

Online identity is “a social identity that an Internet user establishes in online communities and websites. It can also be considered as an actively constructed presentation of oneself.”(https://course.oeru.org/lida100/unit-2/online-identity-for-learning/defining-online-identity/). My question is why is online identity so important?  I will tell you why it’s important. It is important because it gives us the platform for people like us to be able to express our feelings as well as having us show a different side of our personalities.  Also it helps us understand others in a holistic way.

Digital Citizenship Statement:

What I learned about digital citizenship is that it  refers to someone who knows and has the skills to teach  us technology  which helps us to communicate with other people. It also helps us communicate with society to create and consume digital content.  Digital citizenship provides confident and positive engagement with digital technologies.

“Internet privacy, also commonly referred to as online privacy, is a subset of data privacy and a fundamental human right. Basically, it refers to the personal privacy that you’re entitled to when you display, store, or provide information regarding yourself on the Internet.” (SHAHID, 2007) The way we can ensure privacy is to have a strong password.  When someone’s setting up a password, use the same security measures that you would do with your other devices.  Don’t use your birthday, social security and not 1234.  Do not give your password to anyone. “Copyright refers to the legal right of the owner of intellectual property. In simpler terms, copyright is the right to copy.” (https://www.investopedia.com/terms/c/copyright.asp). What this mean is that the one who creates the product is the one that gives the permission to copy it.

I use the computer for everything; from studying for my  teacher license to actually  teaching children.  Also, I use the computer to communicate to people and this can help to keep people safe and express themselves properly.  While I use the computer, I have to make sure that no one has my password and I  know how to protect myself and the organizations we belong to from external dangers.
